SWIG is a tool to generate interfaces for more than 10 programming languages, inluding Python, Perl, Java and C#. The highlight package includes a SWIG interface file highlight.i which contains all information to generate wrapper code for the highlight::CodeGenerator class. The output module gives you access to the highlight parser from within your favorite (scripting) language.

Die GUI wurde mit dem Qt Toolkit entwickelt, daher werden Übersetzungsdateien mit den Werkzeugen Qt Linguist und lrelease erstellt. Die highlight.ts Datei für Linguist befindet sich im src/gui-qt Unterverzeichnis. Nach dem Bearbeiten der ts-Datei in Linguist wird diese gespeichert und mit lrelease in eine binäre qm-Datei umgewandelt. Diese Datei wird in gui-files/l10n gespeichert und von Highlight automatisch eingelesen.
